Large set of customization feature  - WordPress 3.4 has introduced Theme Customization API which provides Theme Customization screen (i.e. "Theme Customizer") and allows theme settings and controls with preview of changes in real time. Compose has included all those primary parameters for user customization which overall gives look and feel to website like background color of different area etc. Other important control like front page, navigation menu etc consititue a set of controls for the basic user.
Post excerpts and thumbnail - Post excerpts and thumbnails are two primary needs of bloggers. Compose has option for using post excerpts and thumbnail in home page.
Website logo or site title - Header customization is one of primary concern for most of the people so Compose offers use of Site title, Site logo , site header background and header ad widget in the header.
Header ad widget - Placing a header ad in responsive theme is a challenge. Compose has a widget area in header which changes size and placement location inside header for different sceen widths. 
3 Navigation menu position - Compose offer 3 navigation menu position. Other than standard main navigation menu , top header menu and footer menu are included.
Social icon - Social pages can be linked to your website by placing the URL of your social network page. Total 9 links are provided i.e facebook, Google+, Twitter, Tumblr, RSS etc.
